Affinity Water announced the temporary use ban on Friday (July 10) amid increased demand and falling ground water levels.
The restrictions were due to come into force from 1am on July 17 and cover most of Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire. However, as the current heatwave enters its 10th day, the utility company is now asking residents to abide by the ban immediately.
Residents will not be able to use hosepipes for watering gardens, washing cars, outdoor areas or windows.
