Batchworth Community Council is proud to announce that it has formally signed the Armed Forces Covenant, reaffirming its commitment to supporting serving personnel, veterans, reservists and military families within our community.
By signing the Covenant, the Council has pledged to ensure that members of the Armed Forces community are treated with fairness and respect, recognising the invaluable contribution they make to our country and to local communities. The Covenant reflects a shared commitment that no member of the Armed Forces community should face disadvantage because of their service, with appropriate consideration given to those who have sacrificed the most.
As part of its commitments, Batchworth Community Council will:
- Promote awareness and understanding of the Armed Forces community through its newsletters, website and social media.
- Support and participate in Armed Forces Day, Remembrance events and local flag-raising ceremonies.
- Encourage the Armed Forces community to engage with local democratic and community life.
- Maintain links with personnel at Northwood Headquarters.
- Work closely with the Rickmansworth branch of the Royal British Legion to support veterans and their families.

The Council believes that signing the Armed Forces Covenant is an important step in recognising the service and commitment of the Armed Forces community and helping to build a stronger, more inclusive community for everyone.
The Covenant was signed on 1 June 2026 and published on the GOV.UK Armed Forces Covenant signatories register on 30 June 2026.
